When it came to roofing the main contractor, Laing O’Rourke, continued to use high quality materials by selecting Fatra’s FF807 membrane to replace the failed asphalt roofing.
The original deck was removed and replaced with a Fatra warm roof system to give high insulation values and better drainage. The roof areas are divided into the individual terrace houses and involved complex detailing around the masonry party walls. Waterproofing around the new plant being installed on the roof also provided a challenge which required Fatra to make regular site visits to advise on detailing as well as inspecting the roof installation.
The membrane lasts over 30 years and comes with range of components to complete the intricate detailing required on a refurbishment project like this. Although in this case Fatra has been used on a luxury development, its’ cost effectiveness makes it also suitable for more modest projects that are not being supervised by English Heritage.
