Single Ply Membrane

Thurgarton Village Hall, Nottingham

Background

Thurgarton Village Hall is a registered charity that is run for the benefit of the local community in Thurgarton, Nottingham. The village hall caters for events and activities held by local community groups and private bookings.

As part of a substantial refurbishment project, the village hall had a new insulated roof, insulated walls, replacement cladding and windows installed; funded by a £49,230 grant from FCC Communities Foundation.

The project consisted of a long dual-pitched roof with a total area of 600m2. Local Fatra approved installer Absolute Flat Roofing was employed to carry out the refurbishment works.

Notable benefits

For the roof refurbishment, Fatra proposed to overlay the existing felt roof shingles with new insulation and the lap-fixed Fatra FF810 single ply membrane system.

Installing a new vapour control layer was not necessary because the existing felt roof shingles could be retained to create an effective vapour barrier. The FF810 membrane was quick to install with lap-fixing centres of 150mm throughout. The roof was completed with the Fatra FF814 standing-seam profile, creating a nice aesthetic finish. By value engineering the roofing solution to suit the existing parameters Fatra was able to reduce labour and material costs for the charity.

Absolute Flat Roofing completed the project in June 2020 and it was delivered with the benefit of a 20 year product guarantee.

Fatra FF810 is available from Fatra UK Ltd and can only be installed by Fatra trained and licensed contractors.
